This Web Site contains information about people who are included in a 'One Name Study' of the surname TIPPER, specifically originating in the Counties of Staffordshire and Derbyshire. These we now call 'The North Midland Tippers'

There is no evidence of links between Groups 1, 2 & 3 and it is believed that they probably have distinct origins.

There is no evidence at present of links between groups 3A, B, C & D, but they may have some common origins in the Dove Valley in the 15/16th centuries.

There is some evidence that the various sub-groupings within 3D have a common origin in Thomas Tipper of Hales Green born c1615.

There is strong evidence that all groupings within 3Di are descended from John Tipper and Elizabeth Wall who were married in Hanbury in 1715.

A CD is available that contains all of this research including Living People and Images of Certificates and Photographs, for proved family Members and for those who are willing to exchange family information that will expand or correct the existing research.
