John (Jack) Holloway
     
     John Holloway, son of Joseph Holloway and Mary Ann Shardlow, was born in St. Werburgh's, Derby, Derbyshire, in 1874. John Holloway also went by the name of Jack.

          The 1881 U.K.Census listed him as a son of the Head of Household - Joseph Holloway, at 13 Cobden Street, Derby, Derbyshire, who is recorded as - Joseph HOLLOWAY M 37 M Derby, England Rel: Head Occ: Brazier At Railway Works.1
     John's entry for this Census was recorded as John HOLLOWAY 7 M Derby, England Rel: Son Occ: Scholar.1

          The 1891 U.K.Census listed him as a son of the Head of Household - Joseph Holloway, at 31 Cobden Street, Derby, Derbyshire, who is recorded as - Joseph Holloway Head Mar. 47 Tinplate worker DBY. Derby St.Peter's.2

     John's entry for this Census was recorded as John Holloway Son Single 27 Brickmakers Clay Digger Worker DBY. Derby.3

     He is said to have been an Epileptic, caused by having been frightened by swans on the park, in childhood. He lived in lodgings after his mother died, until that person could no longer cope. He then lived in the Derby workhouse on Uttoxeter Road, Derby. He used to go for breakfast on Fridays to his brother George's house and to brother Frank's for lunch. He never married.

     John died in Saturday, 23 March 1946, in The Mental Hospital, Derby, Derbyshire,, his Death was Registered at the Derby Register Office in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1946.4 He was buried at Nottingham Road Cemetery, Derby, Derbyshire, on Wednesday, 27 March 1946, age 72, Grave No. 47040.
