George Holloway, son of William Holloway and Elizabeth Austin,was married to Rebecca Yates, daughter of George Yates and Mary Langdin, on Wednesday, 18 January 1775 at St. Margaret's Church, Carsington, Derbyshire.

George Holloway wrote his Will on 31 March 1816; states that he was 'of Hall Know'. He left his money to his son Thomas, who later lived at Spondon.

George died in May 1820 in Hall Know, Hollington, Derbyshire. He was buried at St. Chad's Church, Longford, Derbyshire, on Saturday, 20 May 1820, "age 66, of Hollington". Entry #108.1

The original details for this family were derived from a Tree made for the HOLLOWAY family of Hollington, Co. Derby by Sir Thomas Phillipps in 1869. It has quite a few, understandable inaccuracies, given the date that it was produced. With the help of Heather Eaton we have been able to re-assemble the family using current information, not available to Sir Thomas Phillipps at the time.

George, son of Joseph Holloway and Ellen Jackson, was Baptised on Sunday, 1 May 1803 in St. Michael's Church, Church Broughton, Derbyshire.1
George Holloway and Mary Dale had a child, Sarah Dale Holloway, born c1822, Mary's next three children were by Jeremiah Greatorex, with whom she lived while her Husband was away in the Coldstream Guards. When George came home, he and Mary had two more children.
Mary is recorded in the 1851 Census as the wife of Jeremiah Greatorex, together with her daughter Mary E. Mary is also on the 1881 still in Derby as wife of Jeremiah Greatorex.
It will be noted that on the 1861 Census, George is stated to be 'a Widower'. It is thought that he thought of himself as a Widower so decided to call himself one, or else the enumerator was local and filled in the form on an assumption as no woman had lived with him in living memory.
