      Arthur is a direct descendant of James Tipper and his wife, Elizabeth Vince, who are considered to be the earliest known members of the Dove Valley section of the TIPPER families.1
     Arthur Tipper, son of John Tipper and Mary Clark, was born in Hollington, Derbyshire, on Saturday, 4 June 1864, his Birth was Registered at the Ashbourne Register Office in the Apr-May-Jun Quarter of 1864.2

     Arthur, son of John Tipper and Mary Clark, was Baptised on Sunday, 25 September 1864 in St. Chad's Church, Longford, Derbyshire.      Register Entry states - "Entry #70 - details to follow..."3

          The 1871 U.K.Census listed him as a son of the Head of Household - John Tipper, at Hollington, Derbyshire, who is recorded as - John Tipper Head Mar. 29 Wheelwright DBY. Hollington.4
     Arthur's entry for this Census was recorded as Arthur Tipper Son 6 Scholar DBY. Hollington.4

     Arthur was the first Tipper to work at Hill Top Farm in Longford near Hollington.5

          In the U.K.Census of 3 April 1881, Arthur was recorded at Mill Street, Cannock, Staffordshire.
     Arthur's listing is Arthur TIPPER U 16 M Hollington, Derby, England Rel: Lodger Occ: Railway Porter (in house of Joseph Crabtree).6

     He moved to Burton on Trent in 1883 and worked at Bass, Ratcliffe and Gratton's Brewery. He was also a part-time soldier in the Staffordshire Rifle Volunteers.
     Arthur was also the first Tipper to join the Derbyshire Constabulary. He applied on 27 April 1885 and was appointed as a Police Constable on 4 August 1885, being stationed at Staveley, Bolsover and Chesterfield. It is believed that after being promoted to Sergeant he was reported as having a drink whilst on duty, was demoted to Constable and transferred to Hathersage.5

     His Parent, Mary Tipper nee Clark, died on 9 October 1890 in Hollington; Oct-Nov-Dec Quarter.7

          In the U.K.Census of 5 April 1891, Arthur was recorded at Market Place, Bolsover, Derbyshire.
     Arthur's listing is Arthur TIPPER Lodger Single 26 Police Constable DBY. Hollington (in household of Harriet Leveritt).8

     Arthur Tipper, son of John Tipper and Mary Clark, was married to Annie Elizabeth Robins in 1891 in Saltergate Wesleyan Chapel, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Their Marriage was recorded in the Chesterfield Registration District in the Oct-Nov-Dec Quarter of 1891.9,10

          In the 1901 U.K.Census, held on Sunday, 31 March 1901, Arthur was recorded as the Head of the Household at Constabulary House, Church Broughton, Derbyshire, also in the Household were Annie Elizabeth Tipper and Elsie Elizabeth Tipper,

     Arthur died on Tuesday, 16 May 1911 in Hathersage, Derbyshire,, of a Heart Attack. He was survived by his wife, Annie Elizabeth Tipper and by his daughter, Elsie Elizabeth Tipper.13,14
     His Gravestone Inscription in St. Michael's Churchyard, Hathersage, Derbyshire,shows - / In loving memory of / Arthur Tipper / ( of Hollington ) / Born June 4th. 1864 / Died May 16th . 1911 / Thy will be done / Also, Ann Elizabeth, his wife / Who died April 28th. 1918 / Aged 56 years / Also, Elsie Elizabeth, their daughter / Who died November 18th. 1918 / Aged 21 years / Peace Perfect Peace /15

     Following the deaths of his wife and daughter, it was left to his younger brother John, to settle all their affairs.
     Ann's sister, Blanche (by adoption), from Sheffield swiftly took everything to her own home in Sheffield so John had the additional task of proving that his father John in Hollington, was Arthur's rightful next of kin. Most of the possessions and £200 were recovered and sent to John at Hollington, who was now living in reduced circumstances, supported mainly by his son John.5
