     The details from the Marriage Certificate are - John Henry Simms, 27 years, Bachelor, Foundry Labourer of 50 Leaper Street, Derby, (no father named) and Beatrice Ellen Thorpe aged 21 years, Spinster, Laundress of 50 Mundy Street, Derby, daughter of Charles Thorpe, Foundry Labourer. Witnessed by Augustus and Mary Ellen Slater.1

     Beatrice Ellen Thorpe, daughter of Charles Thorpe and Elizabeth Jane Keylock, was married to John Marvill, son of Arthur Hall Marvill and Mary Cripwell, in Derby, Derbyshire, in 1916.
     Their Marriage was recorded in the Derby Registration District in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1916.4

     It should be noted that the entry in the GRO Index shows John Marvill marrying Beatrice E. SIMMS or BONNINGTON. Their son Jack, born in Q3 1916 is shown as mother = THORPE. There is a Marriage in Q3 1909 of a Beatrice Ellen THORPE to John Henry SIMMS, so that is probably her first Marriage.


     Beatrice Ellen Marvill was left a Widow at the age of 29, on the death of her husband, John on 12 December 1917.
