John Prince, son of John Prince and Elizabeth Howson, was married to Evelyn Horton in Worcestershire in 1910.
Their Marriage was recorded in the Droitwich Registration District in the Jul-Aug-Sep Quarter of 1910.4

     John and Evelyn were childless.5

John Prince, son of John Prince and Elizabeth Howson, died on Monday, 8 July 1935, he was survived by his wife Evelyn Prince.5      Inquest
John Prince
of Eaton Dovedale Farm, between Rocester and Uttoxeter.
Fall From Wagon While Haymaking at Eaton
Mr Prince was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs John Prince, of the Home Farm, Foston. He was only 19 years of age when he went to Eaton Dovedale – to manage the farm for his father. Later he became the owner-occupier of this farm, where he had resided for 37 years.
He married Miss E Orton, of Droitwich, and would this year have celebrated his silver wedding. They have no family.
Following the family traditions, Mr Prince had been prominently associated with Methodism-and had been a local preacher since a youth. He held many offices in the Church, and at the time of his death was Senior Circuit Steward of the Ramsor Circuit.
A former member of the local Board of Guardians, he was a Doveridge representative on the Sudbury Rural District Council and a member of the Uttoxeter branch of the National Farmers’ Union.
Eaton Dovedale Farm comprises almost 300 acres, and about 60 dairy cows are milked.
The Inquest: Mrs Evelyn Prince, the widow, said her husband, who was 56 years of age, was a strong and very healthy man who had been a farmer all his life. Shortly after 6 p.m. on July 8th she saw her husband and two workmen loading hay on a wagon in one of the fields. A few minutes later, she saw workmen running from the field to those who were stacking. One said the master had fallen off the load. She got some brandy and water, and went to the field, where she found her husband lying unconscious on the ground. She found the workmen had sent for the doctor, who came quickly, and she went back to the house and got a bed ready. Her husband was dead when he was brought to the house later.
Thomas Charles Hollins, a farm worker employed by deceased, said that at about 6.40 p.m. on July 8th he was working with Mr Prince and another workman, named Eddy Woolliscroft, in the hayfield loading hay.
“Mr Prince was on the load, we were passing up hay to him. There was practically a half-load on. Before moving on, Woolliscroft shouted, ‘Hold, you!’ and Mr Prince shouted back ‘All right, Eddy!’ As soon as the wagon started I saw Mr Prince fall off the side of the load, on his head, and his feet caught me in the stomach. He said ‘Oh, my head, my head!’ and never spoke again. I sent Eddy for the other workmen, and when they came I went for the doctor. There was a small gutter, which would cause a little roll when the wagon moved.”
Edward Woolliscroft, a smallholder, of Cottage Farm, Combridge, Rocester, who was helping to load the hay, gave similar evidence. He said he shouted out the usual ‘Hold you!’ before moving the horse on. Replying to the Coroner, Woolliscroft said he did not hear the reply as he was hard of hearing, but later he heard Hollins shouting, and going round the side of the wagon, he saw Charlie (Hollins) raising Mr Prince from the ground. Mr Prince appeared to be unconscious.
Woolliscroft said it was rather an unlevel field, but it was not a deep hollow they passed over at the time of the accident. He shouted rather loudly before going on.
Doctor’s evidence: Dr A H C Hill, of Croft House, Rocester, told how he was called to the farm about 7 p.m., and found Mr Prince lying on his back in the field near the hay wagon. He could just feel his pulse, but that disappeared after a few seconds. He examined the head of the deceased, and found bleeding from one of the nostrils, and a sort of creaking at the back of the neck when the head was moved. There did not appear to be any other injuries on the body or limbs. He came to the conclusion that death was due to a fractured skull and broken vertebra of the upper part of the neck.
Returning a verdict of “Accidental death whilst loading hay,” the Coroner said that it was a most unfortunate case. Probably deceased must have lost his balance.
Interred at Marston Montgomery Parish Church.5

Obituary was printed in April 1966
; David Prince of Sapperton Manor – Mr David Prince spent a life of service

A congregation of almost 300 people bore testimony at the funeral of Mr David Prince of Sapperton Manor at Church Broughton last Thursday to the life of service he gave Derbyshire’s many facets of industrial, public and religious life.
He was for many years a member of the Derbyshire County Council, one-time chairman-and of late the oldest member-of Repton Rural District Council; a former chairman of the County A.E.C. and interested in the work of the National Farmers’ Union.
And a staunch Methodist, but so popular and respected that the funeral service had to be held in the more commodious parish church.
R.D.C. TRIBUTE
“David Prince was a member of this Council for upwards of 45 years, and the whole of his adult life was spent in service of one kind or another, on behalf of his fellow man,” said Councillor Rev. L. Tuckley, in paying tribute to the late Mr David Prince, a former Councillor on Repton R.D.C. who died on the 4th April.
“There can be no assessing of a man who spends his whole working day in planning and in doing things for others as did David Prince,” he continued.
Mr Prince, who was elected to the Council in 1922, completed 44 years of service with the council, during which time he was chairman in 1937, 1939 and from 1949-55.
In concluding his tribute to Mr Prince, Rev Tuckley said that age brought to him a kindness and tolerance for the failings of others, but that he brought age and experience of humanity which was invaluable
Tribute to Mr Prince, was also paid by the chairman Mr S A Clarke.
