13 August 1914 landed at Havre;
France - 11 November 1914, 6th. Brigade 2nd. Division;
He was promoted to the rank of Acting Lance Corporal. George was killed in action, shot by a German sniper, reportedly whilst he was mending a fence, near Amfroipret, North of Foret de Mormal. He is buried at Ollivers Military Cemetery in France", he was survived by his wife Annie Bull.6,7
