Gordy lived with diabetes for 70 years and resided in Racine all of his life. Mr. Akin worked in supervision at Twin Disc Clutch Company, retiring in 1978. His special loves in his life were his wife and best friend, Joyce, his family, his church, camping, and golf. Gordy is survived by his devoted wife of more than 53 years, Joyce; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery (Linda) Akin of Wauwatosa, Timothy (Linda) Akin of Racine, and Kurt (Debra) Akin of Oconomowoc; seven grandchildren, Grant, Sean, Matt (Bekka), Keri, Lisa, Sara, and Emily; two great-grandchildren, Andy and Kate; brother and two sisters-in-law, Richard (Dolores) Akin and Margaret Akin, nieces, nephews, and his beloved companion, his dog, "Max".
