the bed with a lighted taper yesterday afternoon when
her nightdress caught fire. She was badly burned
and was removed to the Victoria Hospital, where she
died last night.5

     She was buried in the Family Grave plot purchased by Mark Merigold, in the Cemetery, Accrington, Lancashire, on Wednesday, 15 May 1918.
