Reuben Matthew Tipper, son of George Tipper and Elizabeth Elton, was born in Derbyshire in 1840, his Birth was Registered at the Burton Register Office in the Oct-Nov-Dec Quarter of 1840.1

The U.K.Census of 6 June 1841 listed him in the Household of George Tipper, at Scropton, Derbyshire, who is listed as -

Reuben Matthew Tipper, son of George Tipper and Elizabeth Elton, was married to Eliza Miller in Surrey in 1864.
Their Marriage was recorded in the Bermondsey Registration District in the Apr-May-Jun Quarter of 1864.5      I can only speculate that this Marriage is correct as it is the only one registered between a Reuben and Eliza between 1861 and 1865. To back this up there is an Eliza Miller listed on the 1861 Census at Hatton, which is only a short distance from where Reuben was in 1861. It is therefore possible that they knew each other.6

Reuben Matthew Tipper was left a Widower on the Death of his wife, Eliza, whose Death was Registered in the Stoke on Trent Registration District, in the Apr-May-Jun Quarter of 1865.7

Reuben Matthew Tipper was married to Ann (Annie) Glover on Wednesday, 14 March 1866 at St. Luke's Church, Wellington, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Reuben Tipper, of Full Age, Widower, Accountant of Wellington, son of George Tipper, Farmer and Annie Glover, of Full Age, Widow, of Wellington, daughter of George Weaver, Ironmonger (Both Signed, Reuben - stylishly!).8,9,10

In the 1871 U.K.Census, held on Sunday, 2 April 1871, Reuben was recorded as the Head of the Household at 36 St. Luke Street, Hanley, Staffordshire, also in the Household were Ann (Annie) Tipper, Mary Elizabeth Glover, Frederick William Glover, Annie Arthur Glover and Elizabeth Tipper,
the listing for the Household is -

          ; Annie Tipper     Wife     Married     35     ---     STS. Audley.11

Reuben Matthew Tipper, son of George Tipper and Elizabeth Elton, died on Sunday, 9 January 1881 in Cobridge, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, his Death was Registered at the Stoke on Trent Register Office in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1881, He was survived by his wife, Ann.12,13,14

Manifest -      aged 27 years.

It is not yet known when and why the family returned to England, but they probably travelled after the birth of their son Arthur.
I note that during the family's probable time back in England, William's father - Barnabas Bailey, died. It would be nice to speculate that William would have been able to attend the funeral, as almost certainly he and Elizabeth would have visited their Birth villages at sometime.8
