According to David Black in Australia, James Black lived at Blythswood Square, Glasgow.1

     James Black was left a Widower on the death of his wife, Sophia about 1835.1

     James Black was married to Lillie Wilsone on Monday, 15 February 1836 at Barony Parish, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, daughter of the eminent Glasgow surgeon Charles Wilsone.1

     His Will registered at Scottish Archives of "James Black, Merchant in Glasgow, father of James Spens Black, also father of youngest son Wisone Black only child of the marriage to Lilias Wilson."1

     Philip Black, son of John Black and Margaret Mcnair, was born in Barony Parish, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, on Saturday, 27 July 1805.1


     He lived as an adult in a mansion house on Jamaica St., Glasgow that had been purchased by his father ("The old country houses of the Glasgow gentry“).1
