     Emily Tipper was left a Widow on the Death of her husband, James, whose Death was Registered in the Burton Registration District, in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1913.12      Enlisted for 3 years short service with the North Staffordshire Regiment at Lichfield on 12 August 1914, aged 22 years and 120 days. 5' 6"; 132 lbs. Chest 35"; fresh complexion; Grey Eyes; Brown hair; fair physical development. C of E. Discharged from Army Service at Tidworth Camp on 27 October 1914 (now 154 lbs.)"not being likely to become an efficient soldier".
It appears that he was later conscripted; Killed at Salonika. Enlisted at Burton on Trent in to the 2nd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, Private 40295 (formerly T/4/086439 RASC) died 13 October 1918, perhaps of wounds.13


     Emily Tipper was left a Widow on the death of her husband, Albert.

     Emily died in 1930. Emily's Death was Registered at the Burton Register Office in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1930.14
     She was buried in St. Werburgh's Church, Hanbury on Monday, 13 January 1930.4

     Thomas James Tipper has not been located in the UK Census of 31 March 1901 probably abroad in the Army.6

     Thomas James Tipper, son of James Tipper and Emily Collins, died on Wednesday, 12 August 1903, in Ranikhet, Bengal, India,"a Private in the 2nd. Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, he died of Cholera and is Buried at Ranikhet. Many of his fellow soldiers also died of Cholera in the previous week."7
