John Henry Swettenham

ID# 27434, born 1871
John Henry Swettenham was born in Manchester, Lancashire, in 1871, Whilst the 1901 Census indictaes that he was born in Yorkshire, I believe that this is a transcription error on the part of the enumerator.1

John Henry Swettenham was married to Eliza Tipper, daughter of Sherratt Tipper and Eliza Fowler, in Manchester, Lancashire, in 1893.
Their Marriage was recorded in the Manchester Registration District in the Jul-Aug-Sep Quarter of 1893.2

In the 1901 U.K.Census, held on Sunday, 31 March 1901, John was recorded as the Head of the Household at the Queen's Arms, 161 Queens Road, Manchester, Lancashire, also in the Household were Eliza Swettenham, Willie Swettenham and Harry Swettenham,
the listing for the Household is -
; John H. Swettenham     Head     Married     30     Inn Keeper     YKS. Holmes(sic.)3
          ; Eliza Swettenham     Wife     Married     28     ---     LAN. Manchester(sic.)3
          ; Willie Swettenham     Son     5     ---     LAN. Manchester.3
          ; Harry Swettenham     Son     2     ---     LAN. Manchester.3

Whilst the 1901 Census indictaes that John Swettenham was born in Yorkshire, I believe that this is a transposition error on the part of the enumerator with the details for his wife, Eliza, who was born in Rotherham, Yorkshire.
