     Mary was married to George Keates Hammersley, son of William Hammersley and Elizabeth, around 1824.
     

     Mary Hammersley was left a Widow on the death of her husband, George on 26 January 1831 in Leek, Staffordshire.1

     Mary was married to James Doxey about 1836.
     

     From the Census returns for 1841 and 1851, it appears that this was a 2nd Marriage for both Mary Hammersley and James Doxey.
The 1841 Census for Kiln Lane, Leek shows James Doxey, a Silk Dyer and Mary together with Eli Doxey - 1836; Maria Doxey - 1837; Mary Doxey - 1838; Elisha Hammersley - 1831 and Amelia Hammersley - 1836.
In the 1851 Census, still at Kiln Lane, Leek the children are Thomas - 1834; Maria Doxey - 1835; Mary Doxey - 1839 and John Doxey - 1843.3

     Mary Doxey died on Monday, 11 December 1854 in Leek, Staffordshire, her Death was Registered at the Leek Register Office in the Oct-Nov-Dec Quarter of 1854,"aged 57 years." She was survived by her husband, James.1,4 Mary was buried in St. Edward's Churchyard, Leek, Staffordshire, in December 1854.

     Church of St. Edward the Confessor Marriage Register - "Entry #160 ~ John Leason of this Parish, Bachelor and Sarah Spinster of this Parish were Married in this Church by Licence this 19 day of October in the year 1815, by me Richard Bentley, Vicar.
     This Marriage was solemnized between us John Leason and Sarah Ashworth (both Signed)
     In the presence of Francis Hilliard and John Barton.."2
