     John Everard Harper was married to Eliza Ann Tipper on Thursday, 8 October 1914 at St. Paul's Church, Hasland, Derbyshire, Marriage Certificate No. TE 087916 - Occupation - Smallholder.1,2

     John Everard Harper, son of Henry Harper and Agnes Ann Stapleton, died on Saturday, 18 August 1951, in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, he was survived by his wife Eliza Ann Harper nee Tipper.1

     He was buried in The Parish Church, Bolsover on Wednesday, 22 August 1951.1

Chesterfield native who lived at Bolsover
After a short illness, the death occurred on Saturday (18th Aug 1951) in Chesterfield Royal Hospital of Mr John Everard Harper (62) of "Roselyn" Shuttlewood Road, Bolsover. Born at Hasland, Chesterfield, Mr Harper came to live on the Oxcroft Land Settlement in 1936, where he remained until his retirement in 1948. He had previoously worked as a miner at Grassmoor Colliery. Mr Harper had been in the Regular Army with the Sherwood Foresters. He was in India from 1908 to 1914. and served throughout the Great War. During the last war he served as a sergeant in the Home Guard. He leaves a widow, one son and five daughters. The funeral service was held at the Bolsover Parish Church on Wednesday. (22 Aug 1951)
Mourners were: The widow, Mr J.E.Harper, Mr & Mrs Geo King, Mr & Mrs F.W.Holmes, Mrs D. Brooks, Mr & Mrs T. Lawton, Mr & Mrs F.J.Glossop, Mrs G.Proctor, Mr & Mrs C Harper, Mr H.Hill, Mr & Mrs H. Brown, Mrs A.Bluff. Messrs C.Slade, W.Watson and Flintoff represented the Old Contemptibles Association and Mr G.Prest, the British Diesel Oil and Petrol Co.
Funeral arrangements were by Stubbins and Hope, High St, Bolsover.1
