Ray (Peter's father) told me that both his father and grandfather belonged to the Mechanics Institute or Engineering Union or some such and as a lad Ray was sometimes taken along. The elders never spoke! Nellie was considered far below the Eatons! She had a wonderful singing voice and went round the churches and concert halls as guest soloist. Ray followed in her footsteps as a young boy. I haven't found the two sisters as I don't know their names although one is the M. M. Clarke who was informant on the death of her father - probably Maria. Heather Eaton.5
