William Eley

ID# 14885, born about 1859
Mother*Ann Bull born 27 Aug. 1843, died 14 Feb. 1870
Relationship12th great-grandson of my Top of Tree Bull

At the request of one of our researchers, I have made a major effort to try to establish who the parents of this William Eley actually were.
He appears, with certainty, in only two historical records, the 1861 and the 1871 Census returns. He is listed as 'Grandson' of George Bull and his wife, Sarah.
The 1861 & 1871 Census records for George Bull (#556) show 2 grandchildren staying in the household - William Eley aged 3 and 13 as well as George Bull, son of Ann Bull (#585) aged 1 and 11. Also in the 1871 entry is an Arthur Eley who is also the son of Ann Bull after her Marriage to George Eley.
No probable William Eley has been located in the GRO index, and so it is possible that his Birth was not registered.
Please note that Ann Bull is the daughter of Samuel Bull, George Bull's brother and Ann's husband, George is son of Sarah Bolton / Eley, who later married Geo. Bull snr. making Ann's children grandchildren of Geo. snr.
Is it possible therefore that William Eley is in fact another base son of Ann Bull later Eley.
A search of the possible Parish registers for a Baptism might prove to be fruitful... searches of the IGI, whilst not conclusive, do not show any probable William Eley or Bull Baptisms.1

William Eley, son of Ann Bull, was born in Kirk Langley, Derbyshire, about 1859.

The U.K.Census of 7 April 1861 listed him as a Grandson of the Head of Household - George Bull, at Kirk Langley, Derbyshire, who is recorded as -
George Bull     Head     Married     42     Ag. Lab.     DBY. Sutton on the Hill.2
William's entry for the 1861 Census was recorded as -
William Eley     Gr. Son     3     ---     DBY. Kirk Langley.2

The U.K.Census of 2 April 1871 listed him as a Grandson of the Head of Household - George Bull, at Town Street, Kirk Langley, Derbyshire, who is recorded as -
