Annie Keeling

ID# 25049, born 1895
Father*Clarke Keeling born say 1860
Annie Keeling, daughter of Clarke Keeling, was born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, in 1895.1

Annie Keeling, daughter of Clarke Keeling, was married to James Shardlow, son of James Shardlow and Elizabeth F. Heaps, on Monday, 3 November 1913 at Our Lady and St. Patrick's Church, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Nottingham.
The details from the Marriage Certificate are - Entry #129 - James Shardlow, 20 years, Bachelor, Coal Miner of 37 Finch Street, Nottingham, son of James Shardlow, Colliery Banksman & Annie Keeling, 18 years, Spinster of 16 Newmarket Yard, Finch Street, Nottingham, daughter of Clarke Keeling, deceased, Frame Work Knitter. Married in the Catholic Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Roman Catholics by Certificate. Witnessed by George Shardlow and Lizzie Shardlow.2,3

Presumably there was a Divorce as Annie Shardlow nee Keeling lived with Thomas Thorne after a few years and had several children with him while still married to James. There is no further evidence of those children so it is assumed that they took their father's name after the marriage of Annie Shardlow to Thomas Thorne in 1923.

The THORNE children, born while she was still married to James Shardlow, presumably took the name of THORNE eventually as no SHARDLOW marriages match their names.

Annie Shardlow, daughter of Clarke Keeling, was married to Thomas Thorne in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, in 1923.
Their Marriage was recorded in the Nottingham Registration District in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1923.4
