     Notes from David Butt -
"1901 Thomas died at 7 North Street "Iron Founder". Luke was his only surviving relative.
Peter found his probate; gross £1560.which works out to 23 years of annual average earnings which I consider to be the best indicator of net worth . Luke was his only 'next-of-kin'. At the time of his death, Thomas lived at 7 North Street - which he probably owned (gross estate includes real estate).
The Derby Evening Telegraph published a death announcement describing him as "of Nun's Street Foundry". His son was the General Manager."2

Father*Henry Needham born abt 1772, died Mar. 1835
Mother*Margaret Stenson born Jun. 1772, died 19 May 1842
Luke Needham was born in February 1806 in Derby, Derbyshire.1      He was Baptised on Monday, 3 March 1806 in St. Werburgh's Church, Derby, Derbyshire .2

Luke Needham was married to Martha Eley on Sunday, 14 August 1825 at St. Werburgh's Church, Derby, Derbyshire, After Banns. Witnessed by Edward Peters & John Featherstone, (Luke signs his name and Martha makes her mark).2,1

     Derby Mercury 7 April 1830

     Derby Mercury 18 January 1832
     Borough of Derby
     Epiphany Sessions, Thursday Jan. 12
Before John Balguy Esq. Recorder (plus the Mayor and 3 Magistrates)
Nine o'clock was fixed on for the commencement of these Sessions, and as it was fully expected that the prisoners charged with being concerned in the late Riots would be put upon their trials, a far more than usual concourse of persons assembled in the Hall as soon as it was open to the public.
The names of the prisoners to be tried at the Adjourned Sessions on Monday the 6th day of February next, for breaking open the Borough Gaol and liberating the prisoners, are - (7 persons plus Luke Needham aged 26). Among other trials connected with the riots are 7 persons accused of riot and breaking windows.3

In the 1841 U.K.Census, held on Sunday, 6 June 1841, Luke was recorded as the first person in the Household at Willow Place, Derby, Derbyshire,
also in the Household were Martha Needham, Henry Luke Needham and Eliza Needham,
the listing for the Household is -
          ; Luke Needham     35     Iron Turner     Yes.4
          ; Martha Needham     35     ---     Yes.4
          ; Luke Needham     6     ---     Yes.4
          ; Eliza Needham     3     ---     Yes.4

In the 1851 U.K.Census, held on Sunday, 30 March 1851, Luke was recorded as the Head of the Household at 9 Garden Street, Derby, Derbyshire, also in the Household were Martha Needham, Henry Luke Needham, Eliza Needham, Margaret Needham, Thomas Needham and Sarah Bull,

In 1861, Martha is living with her daughter, Margaret on Sowter's Square, Curzon Street; a "married Head of Household, profession householder". Thomas & Sarah live just a few houses down the street. I think Luke is dead & I have searched in vain for a plausible death record. However he is shown as "Luke Needham, Mechanic" when his sons Walter & Luke married in 1853 & 1856, so presumably then alive.7

Luke Needham, son of Henry Needham and Margaret Stenson, died before April 1871, he was survived by his wife Martha Needham.8
