George Bull was born about 1843.

George Bull aged 21 years, a Labourer was admitted to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, Derby, Derbyshire, on 4 August 1864 with both legs much smashed. He Died on 5 August 1864 - Amputation / Death in 6 hours.1

George Bull died on Friday, 5 August 1864 in Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, Derby, Derbyshire, his Death was Registered at the Derby Register Office in the Jul-Aug-Sep Quarter of 1864.2

Fatal Accident on the Midland Railway.
On Saturday last, an inquest was held before Mr.
Vallack, Coroner for Derby, upon the body of a man
named George Bull, who lost his life under painful
circumstances on the Midland Railway, at Derby.
The evidence showed that deceased was a labourer in
the employ of the Railway Company, at the goods
station, City Road. On Thursday evening, between
seven and eight o'clock, Bull set his feet on the "axle
box" of a carriage, in order to examine the goods
therein contained, when he slipped, and fell under
the train, which was in motion. Several carriages
passed over his thighs, almost severing them from
his body. Assistance was immediately rendered, and
the unfortunate man conveyed to the infirmary, where
amputation was considered necessary. However, he
survived till Friday morning, when death put an end
to his sufferings. The Coroner having summed up
the evidence, the jury returned a verdict of "Acci-
dental death." It did not transpire as to whether
Bull was a married man.3
