James Tipper

ID# 22884, born about 1713, died 1799
Father*Thomas Rowley born say 1680
Mother*Ann Tipper born 16 Nov. 1684
'Well, James certainly looks a very interesting young man – congratulations! I think it’s got to be pretty likely that he’s our man – right age, right place, etc. I can’t see any eligible male Tippers in the area that could be his father; so if he has a Tipper mother instead, then Ann Tipper b1684, herself illegitimate, certainly fits the bill. (Hannah Hawkins is also of the right age, but there is no evidence that she ever married Thomas Tipper 1681-1706).
I see on the IGI that there is a marriage in Audley on 09.11.1715 of a Thomas Rowley and Elizabeth nee Dale, who later have several children baptised in Barthomley from 1718 onwards – he would fit quite nicely as the Rowley father of James in 1713. And if James’ mother was deserted by the father, then it’s more likely that James would have been brought up using the name Tipper.'      extracted from an email from Chris Tipper in reply to Linda Powell - 29 December 2012.1
