Informant was Hannah Gallimore, granddaughter, present at the Death", he was survived by his wife Lydia Wood.5
He was buried at All Saints Churchyard, Dilhorne, Staffordshire, on Tuesday, 26 July 1842.
Cemetery Register Entry - John Wood of Dilhorne Common was Buried, John Barr, Curate was the Officiator.6
John was the eldest son of a large family. He and Lydia lived all their married life at Dilhorne. At the time of the 1841 census, they were living at Dilhorne Common and John was a farmer. Their daughter, Mary, who had married Joseph Salt on 19 November 1827, had died and John and Lydia had their two year old granddaughter Emma Salt living with them. Joseph Salt, his new bride, and Mary’s remaining children were living next-door-but-one to John and Lydia.
John died the following year with Lydia living for another nine years after his death, and although John had worked on the land most of his life (Lydia’s death certificate states that he was a farm labourer), he was working in the mines at the time of his death.7
