George Moon

     George Moon was born in Newhall, Derbyshire, about 1801.1


     George Moon was married to Elizabeth Brown on Monday, 30 June 1834 at the Church of St. John the Baptist, Butley, Ipswich, Suffolk.2

     This family has had their Surname mis-transcribed in nearly all the Census entries up to 1871 as MOORE. I am sure that the family members and their dates later established are actually the MOON Family.3


     George Moon was left a Widower on the Death of his wife, Elizabeth, whose Death was Registered in the Ipswich Registration District, in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1841.4

     George Moon has not been located in the UK Census of 6 June 1841 This may be due to a mis-transcription of the Surname, however, alternative name-searches have not located this family.3

     George Moon was married to Jane Yeomans in 1848.
     Their Marriage was recorded in the Ashbourne Registration District in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1848.5

     Hannah Leason was married to Thomas Tipper on Monday, 14 January 1799 at St. Andrew's Church, Cubley, Derbyshire, Thomas Tipper of Shirley and Hannah Leason of Cubley were Married by Licence (both signed).2

          The U.K.Census of 6 June 1841 listed her in the Household of Thomas Tipper, at High Shutt, Cheadle, Staffordshire, who is listed as -

     Hannah Leason has not been located in the UK Census of 30 March 1851.4

     Hannah and Hannah's declining years were saddened in the Spring of 1851 by the deaths of their married daughter Elizabeth Lymer and their adopted daughter or grand-daughter Elizabeth aged 10.5

     Hannah Tipper nee Leason, daughter of George Leason and Sarah, died in 1852 in Cheadle, Staffordshire, her Death was Registered at the Cheadle Register Office in the Apr-May-Jun Quarter of 1852, She was survived by her husband, Thomas.6 Hannah Tipper nee Leason was buried in St. Giles' Churchyard, Cheadle, Staffordshire, on Tuesday, 6 April 1852.

     Thomas Tipper has not been located in the UK Census of 30 March 1851 Thomas died in Stafford Lunatic Asylum in 1860 and his whereabouts and mental state in 1851 are not known.4

     His mother Hannah Tipper nee Leason's Death was Registered in Cheadle in the Apr-May-Jun Quarter of 1852.5


     His father Thomas Tipper's Death was Registered in Cheadle in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1854.6,2


     Thomas Tipper, son of Thomas Tipper and Hannah Leason, died in September 1860 in The Lunatic Asylum, Stafford, Staffordshire, his Death was Registered at the Stafford Register Office in the Jul-Aug-Sep Quarter of 1860.7

     He was buried at St. Giles' Churchyard, Cheadle, Staffordshire, on Tuesday, 18 September 1860.
