     Francis Tipper signed the Attestation Form - at Leicester Town Hall on 2 September 1915 for the 23rd. Middlesex Football Battalion, aged 32 years, Single and a Coal Miner of Station Road, Ratby. Height 5' 8"; Chest 41"; Scar on Groin; Short service for duration of War, for active service at home or abroad.
Discharged on 17 January 1916 - possibly wounded or essential occupation as a miner.6

     Francis Tipper, son of Francis Tipper and Mary Johnson or Lewis, was married to Lizzie Kilbourne in Leicestershire in 1921.
     Their Marriage was recorded in the Leicester Registration District in the Jan-Feb-Mar Quarter of 1921.7
