James Tipper1

ID# 19129, born 28 December 1785, died 1863

Great-grandson of John Tipper
Great-nephew of George Tipper
1st cousin 1 time removed of George Tipper
1st cousin 1 time removed of Samuel Tipper
2nd cousin 1 time removed of Robert Tipper
James Tipper, son of Elizabeth Tipper, was born in Horninglow, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, about 1785.1
He was Baptised on Wednesday, 28 December 1785 in St. Werburgh's Church, Hanbury, Staffordshire .
St. Werburgh's Church Baptismal Register Entry - "James Tipper, the Bastard son of Elizabeth."3,2

James gives his birthplace as Horninglow on the Censuses - but there are no Burton Baptisms traced and it is quite feasible that Elizabeth went away for her illegitimate birth and returned to Hanbury for the Christening.
His birth dates are variable on the Censuses, placing his possible birth between 1783 & 1786; to counter these dates, there is interesting confirming evidence in that James Mosedale, probable stepfather of James, was witness to the marriage of James to Ann Wheeldon in 1808.4

James Tipper, son of Elizabeth Tipper, was married to Ann Wheeldon, daughter of Thomas Wheeldon and Elizabeth Greterix, on Sunday, 20 March 1808 at St. Werburgh's Church, Hanbury, Staffordshire.
St. Werburgh's Church Marriage Register - "James Tipper and Ann Wheeldon, both of this Parish, were Married."5,2

In the 1861 U.K.Census, held on Sunday, 7 April 1861, James was recorded as the Head of the Household at Woodend, Hanbury, Staffordshire, also in the Household were Ann Tipper,

; Ann Tipper     Wife     Married     81     Ag. Lab's Wife     STS. Draycott.8

James Tipper was left a Widower at the age of 76, on the death of his wife, Ann in January 1862 in Blackbrook, Staffordshire.9

He was buried in St. Werburgh's Church, Hanbury on Friday, 6 November 1863.
